    Keeping the "riff raff" out

    Ok, on the one hand

    a) As prop/arcade traders to many IB/HF/Womens Institute types we are "riff raff"
    b) Many experienced retail traders have very useful insights and should certainly not be excluded from posting here
    c) There are folks not au fait with the industry who will hopefully be coming here for advice who shouldn't be afraid to ask for it

but on the other hand we don't want the forum to be deluged in spam and completely irrelevant posts from people promoting their stupid "system" or people who think spreads trading is the same as spread betting...

So, what's the best way to keep the riff raff from clogging the place up? I'm thinking a kind of riff raff patrol. Make posts like genius or inthemoneystocks have done and one should be semi-banned unless one can convince a moderator that one isn't riff raff, for example?

This really isn't intended to be any kind of elitism; so long as one is polite I think one deserves a polite answer to ones question but it really would be good to keep this place on topic. Honestly it's an "I know it when I see it" kind of thing... trying to define precise rules will probably be counter productive.

I agree with the sentiment that it's important to keep the site on topic and pitched at the particular audience it's targeted to, ie. prop/arcade traders. Hence we'll publish a set of principles so that new members are quite clear about the type of discussion that's encouraged, and those which are not. It's particularly important at this stage since with so few posts right now. I'll draft something this week, for now, if your post/thread is removed you'll know its not the type of post that is appropriate for this audience.

Might be worth putting that sentiment somewhere easy to find?

Take a look in "Chat" for my chatroom for STIR Traders

Anyone welcome; Locals, Brokers (especially with flow!), HF guys, those with an interest in the front end...

I agree, I'm just reviewing everything and this should be a what feels right thing. I would suggest that if people are not bringing some value or a seriously interested in learning about say a new market after successfully trading another then we should direct them to say trade2win.

We must promote a productive professional environment where everyone can benefit.

    Best Regards
